About

Real Help for Expats, Digital Nomads, and Burned-Out Humans

At 28, I sold everything I owned and moved to China. I didn’t speak the language. I’d never even visited. But I knew I couldn’t stay where I was.

It was 2008. I’d just finished school — again — and everything was falling apart. I couldn’t find decent work. I was tired of living in the same place I’d spent most of my life. So I searched online, found a job, and left.

Why China?
Because I’d always wanted to go.

It wasn’t easy, and at first, it wasn’t fun. But I made it work. I built a life. During the day, I worked in corporate training. At night, I was a DJ.

I stayed for years.

When I came back to the U.S. to apply for a new visa, everything fell apart. The pandemic hit. I lost my job, my savings, and eventually my health. A spinal injury launched me into a years-long battle just to get basic medical care.

That fight is what pushed me over the edge.
No one should have to beg for treatment.
I never did in China.
But in my own country, every step was a battle.

So now, I’m preparing my next (and permanent) exit.
And this time, I’m not just leaving —
I’m helping others do the same.

Burnout Isn’t Just a Buzzword

It’s a lifestyle a lot of us never chose.

A system where your only time off is sick days.
Where medical care means paperwork, pleading, and endless bills. Where groceries are a math problem — and rent’s due in three days. Join Me Abroad is for people who are done just surviving.
